Deuteronomy echoes a passionate call to love God with all your heart and reminds us of the covenant that binds us to Him. It’s a renewal, a reflection on how to live faithfully in the land, urging us to remember and choose life when we are tempted to go the other way. Woven through these teachings is the recognition that we fall short, caught in cycles of brokenness. Something the Bible refers to as a curse. Jesus comes as the ultimate curse breaker, fulfilling the law and rewriting our story of failure into one of grace. Deuteronomy invites us to see that true life is found not in our best efforts, but in trusting the One who breaks every chain. It’s a story pointing beyond itself, toward the One who makes all things new.
