Judges is a story of human cycles—people turning away from God, drifting into chaos, then crying out for help, and God raising up deliverers. It’s a mirror held up to our own tendency to forget, to stray, and to hurt each other in ways that seem to repeat endlessly. And yet, God is still present, working through flawed heroes and imperfect circumstances. The recurring pattern of sin, suffering, and salvation reveals that whatever we try will never be enough. But there is a hope beyond the cycle—a hope fulfilled in Jesus, who stepped into our broken story and put an end to the violence and despair.

In these opening chapters, we see a story still unfolding. The Israelites are called to trust God’s promises, but they often get distracted or forget Him. It’s a story about longing for wholeness and wresting with the tension between dependence and independence. God’s story is ongoing—a call to trust in what’s not yet complete.
